Soap Drains

Vitreous enamelled soap dishes made from reclaimed cast iron drain covers/grilles. After being cut into smaller pieces, sharp edges ground and surfaces shot-blasted to remove rust, the soap dishes are vitreous enamelled in a furnace at around 800°C.

Vitreous enamelling is a process where powdered glass is fused to a metal substrate through high heat to create a durable, smooth and often colourful coating.
