Silicone Glass Table

Made from found glass pane, coloured silicone, birch ply, oak legs.

An image is made by gluing the glass pane to the plywood table top using coloured silicone sealant. Under pressure from clamping, the raised beads and blobs of the silicone are flattened and dispersed, sometimes mixing with neighbouring colours but usually leaving crisp distinct divisions of colour. Due to the speed that the silicone creates its skin (within 20-30 mins), you have to be quick at applying so that it will still disperse when clamped. This results in impromptu/ unplanned colour placement, which adds to the stress/excitement. The border was finished with beads of black silicone adhesive (more stiff and rubbery than ordinary silicone, for durability).
